E84 vs. Q84 for gaming and nothing but that mostly arma 2 and bc2. I'm not 100% sure if arma2 supports Q cores and i need more then the 15 to 25 FPS in normal settings.

Well this mobo don't like to overclock so it would be stock or just a bit over.

the e8000 would overclock to something like 4,2 if you have not the best cooler and it's an E0 (2 revisions for these: D0 and E0 - E0 is newer and better for ocing)
the q8400, if im not wrong, will overclock up to something like 3,5, and IM NOT SURE but I beleive it has 2 revisions, too

but between a brand new e8400 compared to your e7400.. I would say.. jsut try pushing that e7400 to 3,8

Gravity is working against you, people!

Have you considered putting the money into a better video card? That can go with you to your next build. Sinking $200 into a CPU for a dead socket doesn't make much sense. Your current CPU is decent for gaming as it is.

There is a Q9550here for $215. Much better than a Q84xx because of the extra cache and the higher overclocking potential. Just my
