You can easily beat a 980x with a decent setup and for about the same price.
That's why I mentioned Westmere. The Xeon X5600 support running in dual-socket configuration for 12c/24t. That's minimum $2k for processors alone but I think a single Quadro can cost you around that much. Probably even more.

Ivy Bridge is going to dominate. SB is just a sample of what's to come. True enthusiasts will wait it out.

Id stay with what you got and wait for Ivy and Bulldozer bring to the table. SB to me is nothing special for desktops.

just wondering, you have a vested interest in SB?
Intel Stock? Personally employed by intel?

I mean honestly you push SB in this thread more than Jean-Luc did.

He's got/getting it. That is his sole affiliation and sole motivation.

Or he's a blind fan boy? I do not know. All I know is, he loves Intel Sandy Bridge, DRM, and the Killswitch feature on these processors biggrin.gif

I'm a huge fanboy.

I spread facts and alleviate fear.

The other day I was driving down the road in my 2009 Chevy and I was sweating a lot.. My girlfriend asked me why I was so worried... All I could do was point to the On Star button and whisper (shhh they might hear you and shut off the car, lock the doors, and roll up the windows).

Last night I tried for 23 x 159. When I was in prime95, my vcore was fluctuating in cpuz. I've not noticed this before but it may have been doing it all along. This can't be good for my overclock. I have LLC enabled, andI've had setups in the past where LLC causes the voltage to jump up a bit and stay there as soon as the proc goes under load but this was different. It would read 1.324 for a few seconds, then it would 1.312 for a few seconds. To me, that's a big jump. Under load, it needs to get somewhere and stay there. I let it ride and woke up to BSOD 124. Anyone have this problem with this board or chipset?
