Wanted to ask opinions about which motherboard to get for IB ( the 3770K model )

Iv settled for the 3770K model with a Corsair H100 ( if anyone has anything better than this, i'd also like a recommendation ) i will be OCing it i hope to get to atleast 4.5 Ghz ( i know about the heat problem ) but the one thing i just cant set my mind about is the motherboard.

So far i have reached some options that seem overall viable , and thoes are : Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H , MSI Z77-GD65 , Asus Sabertooth Z77

If i dont use any of the fancy voltage measuring tools that the gigabyte has for example , would it be safe to buy the UD3 model ?
id also like an Asus recommendation if someone has any ideea ( other than the Sabertooth )

Im coming from a Core i7 920 ( at 3.9 Ghz currently ) am used to the heat tongue.gif

I apologize if this was posted in the wrong forum.

I chose the Gigabyte for its 3D Bios and Reset/power buttons on the motherboard. Flat black color is nice too.

Find a feature you like and go with it.

that's the thing , i don't care to much for the cool looking bios and the buttons ( which i will prob never use ) if i would know that the UD3 performs the same but without those features then id get that but im not sure here.

I would also not use the small motherboard cooler that comes with the Sabertooth ( its probably very noisy ;S ) and that kinda defeats that whole purpose of that cover that it has that makes it unique.

3d graphics and gaming mostly ( have crossfire allready ) price range is diferent here where i live but i can tell you that both the sabertooth and the UD5 cost about 225 euro or 300 US dollars , i guess i can go jut abit higher but cant see any more expensive boards ( no store in Romania has the Sniper 3 or maybe the EVGA board ) so all that i have are the Asus , gigabyte asrock MSI and ECS models

I would get an ASRock Extreme4 Z77 if you want the best price/performance.

I don't understand the point of brand favoritism.

This ^^
It has roughly the same overclocking ability as the Z68 extreme3 gen3 for SB chips.

Also, I would grab an H80 unless you can push/pull with the H100. The difference is minimal.

Aparently un-used ram can give you a 30 FPS boost! doh.gif

Thanks for the reply's , i will consider the asrock mobo's but there's just something about them that makes them look second tier :P compared to the other makers , I am sort of set on going with a UD5 overall ( if i cant find any life altering topics in the interwebz about it ;P )

Finaly a SATA3 port to feed my vertex 3 :D

As for the cooler , as i understand it , if i change the stock vents on the H100 with some high air pressure ones and make a push pull configuration , i might get something out of it ;S ( hopefully i dont regret buying it over the Phanteks

If you can fit a push/pull config do it. Otherwise your temps will be roughly the same as the H80. I would grab 4 x Gentle Typhoons AP-15s thumb.gif
