So I didn't know if to go AMD or INTEL for my friends budget pc but for what I see I think I can get more out of an Intel for cheaper and faster.

He is looking to spend around 300-400 bucks, just add in components.

I was thinking a P4 3.0ghz E socket 775, that think is probably faster then an amd 3000 just because of its extra 512mb of cache.

I don't want to go celeron or sempron that is just way to slow, p4 > and athlon >

thanks.

hey Splat00n, 'sup?

honestly, i wouldn't go with AMD - i have had so many problems in the past with them. what i would do for your friend tho, is go with the new C2D's, like your E6300 or E6400, it's a little extra bucks than the P4 you looking at, but will outperform, outplay and outlast (guess who's seen too much Survivor) most other cpu's out there, this includes the AMD's. the other advantage is you can OC the cpu..

for the mobo, i would go with the same mobo you have, its a really good board.

don't waste time spending a little money on something that's going to last a a little time. save up and get what will last longer and do better.

later..

Core 2 Extreme X6800
Asus P5K
OCZ Reapers 8500 HPC Edition
Chaintech 8800GT
Samsung 226BW
Cyber-Snipa Sonar Headset
MX518
G15

While it is obvious that a Core 2 is ultimately the better CPU many times over, keep in mind the budget of $300-400. A 6300 + S3 eats his budget without taking into consideration the other necessary components.

Total: $350 ($335 after $15 MIR)

Assuming he just needs the PC and no monitor/peripherals, that leaves enough within budget for a case.

nice built man thanks, I think the 805 will be much better because of its dual core capacitys. I will let my friend know tonight at work and see what he says.

You could get the Hipro 300w PSU for $8 off the 'egg... I've heard they're very reliable...

Honestly, if he isn't much of an OCer, I would look at an emachine at Best Buy... then get a better card... just be sure to ask if it has a PCI-Express X16 slot.

I'd say stick to custom because I find that the OEMs overcharge for decent computers(dual-core CPUs mainly)

ALL men see in only 16 colors, like Windows default settings. Peach, for example, is a fruit, not a color. Pumpkin is also a fruit. We have no idea what mauve is.
