So I've done about 2 weeks or more of research and pricing and I think I've finally decided on a build, which I will hopefully pick up this weekend. Let me know what you guys think.

CPU = E6600
Mobo = Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3
RAM = 2g Mushkin HP2 800MHz (G.Skill RAM is expensive in Canada 200+ and hard to find)
PSU = Enermax Liberty 620W (modular)
GFx = BFG 8600GTS OC
HD = Seagate 320g SATA 7,200rpm
Case = Thermaltake Armor Jr.
CPU cooling = Zalman CNPS9500

I have this all priced out around $1225.00 CAD before tax, but I think I can bargain the guy down if I buy it all from one place.

If you have any suggestions or comments please post as I'll be going to buy this setup soon if no one has anything bad to say about it.

Cheers,
Ravage

Everything looks good. That board and chip will O.C. really well. You can get lot's of help with that board since a lot of people on here own it. The G.sill would be worth the extra money if you can afford it but Mushkin is pretty decent ram too. Very nice! And good luck

Also if you can try to get the Tuniq Tower, it's a much better cooler. The Zalman will allow for a good O.C. but the TT is just better.

Check these out! Direct canada has OCZ platinium XTC 6400, rated 4-4-4-12 for only 87$ after MIR!!! aside from that, EVERYTHING else is a great choise. May I suggest you wait until after july 22nd, prices for the Core 2 Duos are going to drop by half. the Q6600 will be down to 266$ and the E6600 will be around 180$.

Tuniq Tower here for 55$, shipping available to canada.

Looks like a pretty good build.

If you're looking to save a bit of money, i would go with the E6420 instead of the 6600. Its a little cheaper and i've heard it overclocks better... or just wait till July and you can get a Quad Core for around the price you'd spend on the 6600

Also, if you get that 6420 you can use the money you save to get the gskill RAM

Thanks for the tip. I'll take a look into the Tuniq Tower cooler. As for the RAM I made sure that whichever RAM I decided to get would have the Micron D9 chips on it. So the Mushkin has the same chips on it that the G.Skill do, so it should still overclock just as good I think.

Wait till July eh? While that would help me to save up more money and maybe get an 8800 and the G.Skill RAM I don't know if I can wait that long.....

You know how it is, after doing all this research and pricing I'm just itching to buy it so I can start putting together. But I'll keep it in mind. Thanks.

Corsair TWinX2gb with D9 chips. for 110$ + 9.99$ shipping here. the G.skill HZ cost over 200$ on the same site. Sad no?

Or here, DDR2-1066 Crucial ballistix for 129.99$ +9.99$ shipped to canada.

EDIT: If ya cannot wait, then the E6600 is the best bang for yer buck right now.

Your current system aint so bad so, comeon, it's LESS THAN 30 days. I will come kidnap you and make you watch ALL the star trek series in a row starting from kirk's series, that should pass the time...?

Yeah I know my current setup is still pretty good. It actually runs everything I need just fine. Even most of the games I play right now run pretty damn good on it. But I've had this rig for about 3+ years now and I'm just itching to upgrade to some newer technology. For pete's sake my current CPU isn't even 64 bit

As for the StarTrek, I'll watch all of them except for the original! I can't stand Captain Kirk, Jean-Luc Picard 4tw lol
