Hello,

I'm planning on building a new nvidia SLI based system. Appearantly I'm gonna have a problem, since i need to have at least 1 (ideal case - 2) usable PCI slots. First one will be used for X-fi series sound card, 2nd one for network card (this one's kinda optional, since few possible workarounds include a board with 2 nic's or USB network card). Looking at photos of most average SLI boards it seems to me I can hardly hope to have 2 PCI slots available.
So my question is: which particular boards could let me use 2 PCI slots with 2 graphic cards in SLI ?

p.s.: graphic cards will be 2x 8800gt

iff you get two reference 8800GT you maybe able to use two pci, but if you get any with a after market cooler then you wont be able to ... i can only speak ofr aftermarket, were i am only getting 1 PCI for a sound card, although i personally dont think you would need a network card the 780i and 790i come with dual gigabit ethernet

If both are single slot, then you have no problems...

Since heating seems to be a bit of a problem for 'stock' 8800gt cooling, I was leaning towards gigabyte model with zalman cooler, which i believe takes a tad more than 1 slot. Also, my budget is kinda limited, so 780i or 790i don't seem to be an option for this moment. Any other tips guys? I really wouldn't want to use on board audio

The stock cooling is plenty fine if you aren't going to overclock the card to its limits. At a 15% OC you'll be fine with stock cooling.
