I always thought 3x1GB could NOT run in Dual Channel. I decided I wanted to use more RAM with Vista than 2GB. I had two sets of 2x1GB for a total of 4GB but a stick of one of the sets broke leaving me with 3x1GB. I just always ran 2x1GB for Dual Channel but have come to realize I need more RAM. I have a 32 Bit OS so 3GB is all I need.

I was hesitant because I thought 3x1GB would not run Dual Channel.

This is with Crucial Ballastix DDR2-800 1GB Sticks (D9GMH)

Here is what I found.....

------

2x1GB

-----

3x1GB

*** DUAL?

-----

It says Dual everywhere, The benchies are a bit lower though. Is it really run Dual channel? If it is I will use 3GB but if it is not running true Dual should I use the 3x1GB or 2x1GB so I can have dual?

BTK is my initials if you were wondering.

Bandwidth certainly looks to be dual channel.

I'd try a few other tests to confirm.

...rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law,' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the right of an individual. -- Thomas Jefferson

Interesting. Possibly, it is using 2GB in Dual, and using the 3rd as single channel?

thats what I suspect but it looks like I am going with this

tested stable @ 2.1V below crucials rated 2.2V

looks to be good bandwidth for 24/7

Cas 4 allows me TrD of 7 (performance level)
