Sure you could, have fun lugging that desktop, and monitor, and keyboard, and speakers around everywhere you go in order to have the same functionality as a laptop. Comparing desktops and laptops is asinine.

Edit: Beat me to it Selectodude.

no but they are still overpriced.. paying 2000$US for the base end is rediculous... you can get a Dell 9400 with a 7900gs, 2gigs of ram, a 160gig hard drive and a C2D on it 1800$.... even my friends alienware laptop with sli 7900gs is less expensive than the top priced model and alienware are insanely overpriced...

Yes, Overpriced would have been a better term than "Useless"

Reasons a MacBook Pro is worth $2000:

A: This is a LAPTOP we are talking about here, NOT A DESKTOP!

B: They are dam sexy

C: They are very well build, and run well. I have been helping my friend look for a laptop, and I have not found a single other brand that feels as solid as the MacBook/Pro (most others feel cheep and plasticy).

D: When it breaks, you take it to the Apple store and they fix it for you AT THE STORE! No "ship it to us and we will maybe send you a new one in like, 4 weeks, if your lucky".

E: It can run OS X 10.4 (and soon 10.5 ), which is a very very nice operating system, AND it can dual-boot with Linux AND Windows, so you can still play all your games and such.

I suppose the quality can only be appreciated by those who have interest in them. Good luck with your purchase, but I would hold off until right after xmas, save your self 500 bucks or so, or see just in time that a newer, less expensive version comes out...

I actually compared prices on Dell v. Apple, and Apple came out about 500 dollars cheaper.

Dell: YAY OVERPRICED MACHINES YAY
