Ok, so I have a Averatech 6240 Series.
Now I love this lappie, but let me tell you whats wrong.

-Don't have enough memory
-Keyboard got broken by yours truly
-Thinks too much, therefore is always running processes in the background.
I wouldn't mind this, but the fan also sucks, therefore I have a permanent red
burn on my right hand from the HOT fan exhaust
-Won't charge unless its rigged up by yours truly [I think the connector thingy is broken. From what I have deducted, when you look inside the plug that you put into the computer, the [male?] part wiggles alot, and won't recognize the other [female?-charger cord] part.
-Mouse touchpad is broken too

OK. Done. Allright, so your probably wondering, wth?
Why is she telling me all this.
This is why.
Will it be cheaper to fix it myself....
I.E.> buying all the parts I need + installing them ...
Or just buy a new damn Laptop?

Help in this matter will be loved.. Maybe I just need to get the BFH. and put it out of its misery.

Ack.

I would personally sell it "as-is" on eBay, take that cash and buy a cheap laptop off of retrobox.com

Keyboard would be hell to replace, as would the power connector.

I've seen quite a few averatechs in the shop here, the dc connector and heat problems were quite common with those models. The keyboard isn't that hard to replace I think I order them here from between $50-$100 CAD. However the internal problems like the dc connector will be hard to fix. Doubt you will be able to get much money for it since most of the parts on it don't seem to be working. I think a brand new one is listed in the system here for around $500 CAD and thats for one that is all in one piece. Its basically not worth doing anything with anymore, the parts alone need to fix it will probably cost more then the units worth, plus averatech is based out of europe, and getting parts for them has taken me 2 months +.

You shouldn't torch it. You should give it away or part it out...*** is with people just ruining stuff. Sure it's messed up, but you know a kid could use that for school. Maybe they wouldn't mind burning their hand just so they could get on the internet...think about it.
