Anyone got a recommendation for an EAC Linux based program. It's one of the few things that's been keeping holding onto my Win7 copy outside of gaming.

RubyRipper
abcde with mkcue
Morituri

Those are all suitable replacements, RubyRipper + Morituri aim for accuracy over speed and are suitable on scratched or unknown quality disks. abcde is fine for disks in perfect or near perfect condition, mkcue lets you pop out the resulting cuesheet. You can also run dbpoweramp or EAC via WINE for that stuff as well.

Thanks Xaero I guess those really are the closest I can get outside of WINE-ing EAC.

@Plan9: I generally avoid software that hasn't seen an update in almost a decade. Any reason that I should reconsider?

I honestly hadn't even noticed that it wasn't maintained any longer. But in honesty, things haven't really changed much in a decade. CD-A's are still red book; MP3s / FLACs are still the preferred format and they haven't really changed either. Plus I think Grip is mainly a frontend to a bunch of CLI tools anyway.

However if you'd prefer to use other, active, tools then that's fair enough. Let me know what you settle on though as I might give a try myself smile.gif

Well considering I just found out RubyRipper has been abandoned by it's dev as well (I find CD ripping irrelevant when there's crappy streaming quality to enjoy; is essentially what he had to say) that leaves just morituri as far as I can tell since most of the Qt/KDE orientated programs seem to use cdparanoia as well but I'm not sure if they use the error correction and checking like rubyripper and morituri are supposed to (which is the whole reason EAC is "what pros use" I hear).

I guess I'll give it a try before I move to 14.04. I fear I'll have to completely abandon mainstream music if everyone gives up on CDs and the major studios continue their stupidity about no FLAC,WAV,or ALAC offerings. At least there's Bandcamp; even if it can be hard to find a good band among all the "meh" ones.

rip:it??

The Infantry's primary role is close combat, which is characterized by extreme violence and physiological shock, close combat is callous and unforgiving FM 3-21.8
