Back when I had 2GB of RAM in memtest it shown that It ran at near 5000mb/s.. now that I have added an extra 2GB and set them at exactly the same latency as before, it's now gone down to 3500mb/s.. Is this normal?

More stress on the memory controller, not sure if it'd really effect that though.

You need to increase your northbridge voltage a bit to account for the extra stress on your memory controller.

Okay thanks. What's the Northbridge again? MCH voltage? (something like that)

Well just tried it.. tried all 3 settings +1,2 and 3. made no difference

Changing voltage can possibly improve stability, but it will do nothing at all for performance. Since performance is the problem here, there is no reason to think than changing the voltage will fix it.

Something must have happened to your memory ratio or timings. Get a screen cap of memset and whatever you are using to benchmark with just two sticks install, then do the same with all four. After that we can compare the two and see what, if anything, can be done.

SOrry for the long delay. Didn't check back on this thread. here are the screenshots

2GB

4GB

As you can see, when 4 sticks are in the mb/s of the memory goes down by quite a bit. No settings/latencies have been altered.

I don't know much but could it possibly be going from Dual Channel to Single channel. are you going 4x1gb or 2x2gb for the 4gb config

They're both dual channel

according to your sig* their not.

Memory
4 x 1GB Ballistix DDR2-800
or is that different from this?\\

Because if you have what i pasted above. Then that is the reason (I think). Your putting more strain on your mobo to control 4 sticks rather than 2 sticks, regardless of their size

4 * 1GB is still dual channel...

Anyway i thought P35 chipsets weren't troubled by 4 sticks of RAM it's the Nvidia ones that have the problems
