Won't you have to cope with the fact that there will be a giant "split" in the middle of the whole picture (where the crosshair etc. Would be in FPS games), making it a lot harder to play?

3 would be fine, seeing as there is a single monitor handling the "middle" part of the picture (am I making any sense now..?)

Either way, I'd suggest that you go with a single, high res/quality monitor for gaming alone.

Well I assume he would do more then gaming, Just game on primary, and use dual monitors for having multiple windows open.

I was faced with the same dilemna and ended up going with the Korean 27" and using an old dell 20" as a secondary. That's what my vote is but only because I know no different. It's been pleasant, the resolution is outstanding.

I would go with one larger display. I had a surround setup using 3 dell 2209wa monitors. While it was neat, I got bored of it really quickly. Then I switched to an 27 ACD but the resolution was tough on my gpu at the time. It was a gtx 580 matrix i believe. From there I went with an Asus Vg236H. The 120hz was cool and all but the screen was so small. I really don't game competitively so I really didn't notice the benefit of of having that monitor. I sold it and now i'm on an old westinghouse Vr-3225 tv and couldn't be happier. It was the cheapest out of all the monitors I tried. Only issue was setting up the Edid override in the nvidia drivers. Whatever you chose, just make sure youre happy cause in the end, that's all that really matters.

I think multi monitor is for a extensive amount of electricity - monitors = more cards in general redface.gif

There are 2 kinds of people I really admire in this world. Ones that say they are going to do something and do it! And ones that do something, and then say they have done it!

get 3 23 or 24" monitors power them with 2 gpus. then add more monitors if you need more.

powering 1440p monitors will get complicated.

Yeah I am in the same boat, but I thought the 3rd choice in the POLL would be a 30" to fill the void left by 3 x 23" monitors if setup in portrait.
My money is on one of those South Korean (Yamakasi, Catleap, etc) monitors size 30" w/ 1600p if OP adjusts the poll.

IMHO 3 monitors DESTROYS 1 monitor for racing games but it's just OK for fps. So depends on which type of games you play more.

I was in the same spot you are for a few months last winter - spring trying to figure out what I wanted.. I ended up getting one 1080p 27inch monitor and hating it and reselling it. Then I got 2 1440p monitors and everything ran amazing.. I had 2 1440p monitors for a year and it was great, just the right amount of screen real estate imo thumb.gif also you can do what I did and finally get a 3rd 1440p monitor for Eyefinity later on.

Anyways 2 1440p monitors all day.. leave the bad viewing angels, low pixel density and poor colors to the children tongue.gif
