Because that seems to be a common belief on most forums I go to. Glad it's not an issue here...because really, the only reason people think they're so great is because of the video-game Guitar Hero.

But I am also disappointed at the number of people who have Slipknot in their list of favorite metal bands...for shame..

We must hang out sometime, h00chi3!
I really like dragonforce, but I don't see them as hardcore brain smashing metal; I like them because their sound is more positive (if that makes sense) than most metal bands. (Note I liked them before Guitar Hero got them.) I wanted to go see them and Killswitch a while back in Atlanta but my parents wouldn't let me go on account of something like "It's dangerous"

Myself though I'm more of a Power Metal guy, so I guess I like that kind of stuff. Iron Maiden, Dragonforce, Symphony X, Iced Earth, Hammerfall, Nightwish is alright, Blind Guardian, Demons and Wizards(Hansi Kursch is an awesome vocalist) and a bunch of others I can't think of.

However I'm partial to other types of metal, like Dethklok, Megadeth, 80's Metallica, Nevermore, Dimmu Borgir, Arch Enemy, DevilDriver, Rammstein, Deathstars, Dio, Children of Bodom, Shadows Fall (even though they've started moving towards Metalcore), I can't remember anymore bands XD

I'm all across the board on metal, I don't really like just one genre, I just like more bands from Power Metal than other types.

After all these years I still haven't come up with something worthwhile to put in this area.

ZOMG I hate you

I saw Still Remains on Thursday night, but I can't see As I Lay Dying until they finally tour the UK in March, and their touring with Evergreen Terrace and special guests. It's a club tour too

Have a question? Feel free to PM.

Wow, that must have been a killer show. =D

I'm a fan of the metalcore/hardcore side of things, but I like other stuff too. Little list, some of them have been mentioned, but whatever.

LOL!

I wouldn't call myself a metal head, but I do enjoy metal music. I am severely turned off of metal because of the majority of *singers* in metal bands. Having said that, in the last several months I have started to listen to some metal (mainly metalcore).
Some bands...

All That Remains
Bullet For My Valentine
Killswitch Engage
Protest The Hero
The Human Abstract (really love their work)
Trivium
Between The Buried And Me

I am also a fan of the more classical metal/rock many have already mentioned.

PS - I have a ton of respect for many metal musicians. The guitars/drums are really an art in so many cases.

Bleeding Through were supposedly meant to be playing Thursday too, but they never made it BFMV were headlining and they were pretty good TBF

Have a question? Feel free to PM.
