Title says it all, I'm running a single 7950 GT OC'd, but which would be better? Buying another 7950 to SLI with or dropping 600 for a 8800 GTX? (and I dont mean to add the 8800 GTX to SLI with, I mean stand alone VS the dual SLI)

Sell your 7950GT and get an 8800GTX. Well worth it
But with a 17inch moniter an 8800GTS might be better...

I had a thread like this:
http://www.overclock.net/nvidia/1320...s-7950-gt.html
I changed the title and post because I wanted to know some other GPU stuff, but in order to save everyone repeating everything, here is the thread.
Short answer: 8800GTX will pwn 2x 7950GT
Long answer: With extreme overclocking, voltmods and bios flashing, the 7950GTs might be able to just barely beat a stock 8800GTX.

Not only would 1 8800gtx perform better than sli'd 7950's, you'd also be getting dx10. 8800gtx>sli'd 7950's

If you want get the 8800gtx.But 2 in SLI are killer's I use to have 2 in this rig.Even my cpu @ 2.7 was bottlenecking.Because the card's I remove 1 and now is better. But you have the C2D wich is great chip. You have benchies?

Then update your system specs.

8800GTX's might go down a little bit by Christmas...I have seen the 8800GTS slowly go down in price, but I haven't payed attention to the 8800GTX, since I can't afford it

Haha I *have* the money, but my wife would probably be dissapointed in me if I bought it, since I JUST bought the 7950 about 2 weeks ago, and then I've upgraded my whole comp since then, from a p3 3.06 HT, 1gb ram, abit pos mobo. lol so needless to say, shes been nice enough in letting me buy what I've bought to far *thank god 4k credit card and a good job to pay it off fast*
