The whole point of a BETA (or any non-final release) is to let people test the program before it is set in stone. a beta is pointless if noone can use the fruits of it.

We can talk about medieval all you want wink.gif How about WAV? The initial release was in 1991. However, for uncompressed audio, it pretty much is the norm. I don't see how "old" means "bad". Especially considering the (avoidable) code growth and the amount of (non-)time the developers spends on products nowadays in this industry where we always need something yesterday, that was supposed to be designed 2 weeks ago and released the day after... Making a good piece of software takes time, and back then they generally took time to make things perfect. there was no BETA or stuff.

That said, MP4 is implemented almost everywhere because it allows a lot of flexibility on what the output look like, and you probably know how big the bias is about using "MP3" versus better codecs: "if it works with (nasty) mp3, it's better than the rest"...
Also, the Nvidia card has an hardware H.264 en/decoder built-in, so it's only logical to use the most common format for it; MP4. However, the option to let the user chose any other H.264-capable container would be best.

I wish Nvidia would just release the beta.

If it doesn't work well/crashes/sets fire to your PC, that's OK.

Nobody would care...

Oh they can release a beta with the M2TS format and than easily add MP4 as another update for beta. They can have both options available to record as well like many software programs out there. Nvidia is not truthful in this matter. There is something else going on.

Be it OpenGL, DirectX 8,9,10 or 11, if your machine can run the game well you can now capture it all with virtually no hit to the frame-rate or action

Can anyone confirm this? Are we talking 2%, 5% or 40%?

For 1080p60 footage i have not seen a method better than like 30-40% loss for starcraft 2

I don't believe in "good enough"~!!

240hz / gsync / low persistence is AWESOME

Just purchased playclaw and it is amazing.

How does Playclaw compare with the other capture software out there? Does the 3570k handle it well?

Try Playclaw. It is amazing but I am capturing at 720p.

Also so far Nvidia said that performance hit is around 5%. 10% max in extremely demanding games. However they NEVER said which resolutin of fps this was based on. Who knows maybe their target is 720p 30hz for these numbers. Because a close look at nvidia shadowplay screens show us that there are different quality settings

Here we see the quality is set to medium and recording set to 1080p @30fps. So maybe their testing of 5% performance hit could be based on this. And perhas 1080p @ 60hz with High Quality settings can have a performance hit of 20-30%

Knowing Nvidia I bet they based their tests on 1080p 30fps on Medium Quality.
