I believe its your power supply. And yes you can change video cards and have your PS start doing it due to the fact that the load has now changed on your PS. I'm not saying your PS is overloaded by any means, its just that sometimes a change in hardware causes the load to change enough that the coils in the PS suddenly whine when they didn't before with a different load. I've had 2 GTX 780 ACX cards and one GTX 780 Classified card and they don't whine, however my previous Seasonic 700w PS did whine some in certain circumstances with the GTX 780 and didn't with the GTX 670 I had prior to it. I recently changed to a Seasonic X1050w and the whine has gone even with the same video card that was causing whining with the Seasonic 700w.

I doubt it's the power supply before i got this one 2 months ago i had a cooler master psu and it whined also so i really doubt it's the power supply i have saw a linus techtips video about coil whine and it's random completely. i have saw on newegg reviews on this card and alot of people are having coil whine so i'm pretty sure it's the card and not my psu other than that theres no point in to RMA this card cause i will just get another that will do the whining

My evga acx 780 had mild coil whine so I traded it for an Msi gaming which was TWICE as bad. Now I have a classified ready to go in tomorrow. I am 100% sure it wasn't my psu as I already swapped it out. The whine also scales with fps. My evga was actually quiet when I got it and developed the whine over 3 weeks of use. I was on stock bios with mild OC.

Those are different cards but it just proves nvidia can get coil whine also. This was a first for me with the brand. Very unlucky.

Yea i know it's very common now adays from newer cards to get this whine but i have heard if you "break in" the card like for example play heavy load games for hours the whine would stop in 3 week period i am testing this atm but i am not sure if this will help also i have read on the web that companies will not RMA over this because theres nothing wrong with the card physically
