I've installed Accelero S1 Rev2 with Turbo module yesterday. Today, I've been playing Unreal Tournament on high settings for about 1 hour, and logged the GPU temp using NVtemplog utility I downloaded. It is idling at around 34-37C, and even after 1 hour of playing, it still didn't rise above 40C. It seems ridiculously low. Does that seem right to you guys? Before, it was idling around the same, but under load, it went well above 70C.

If true, really happy, but I don't know if swapping the cooler somehow messed up the temp reading or something.

That sounds perfectly reasonable to me - it's one massive cooler with a lot of fans, and just replacing the stock thermal paste can give a very reasonable drop sometimes

Have a question? Feel free to PM.

I personally dont see the need for extra coolers on the 8800GT, mine runs @ the EVGA KO Speeds and doenst go above 60c under load cos' i turned the fan up a lil bit

Maybe if your running 740/2050MHz, but other than that i dont see why

Havin the fan @70% Is not loud, nor is it silent

I can't justify £30-40 for something thats not needed personally

It depends on what you consider "needed"

I keep my PC as silent as possible and for me, that extra money to silence the graphics card's aeroplane impression is well worth

It's more like £20 anyway

I can.

Longer life(Lower temps)

Better looks(Windowed case)

Every card I have ever owned has had an aftermarket cooler.Of course I overclock every card I own but................

I have an accerlero on mine. Temps stay below 40C while overclocked. Its insane, but I have a 120mm fan instead of the turbo module.

Well, I bought Overclocker UK's value 8800GT with rubbish single slot cooler. But I bought this for about £40-70 cheaper than EVGA OC'd card with their own cooler designs. So, by buying the same card, and choosing an aftermarket cooler for £30 and OCing by myself, technically I've saved money, and made the card much cooler. Therefore, I've seen 2 major benefits.
