My 8800GTS will do >2300MHz on the memory. Truth told, I don't even know for sure how high it *can* go because 1152 is the furthest I've actually pushed it.

I am keen to hear, though, whether the 9800GTX's can consistently best my memory speed (or my other speeds), because obviously the degree to which it overclocks (and more importantly, scores) better than my card should be a pretty good indicator of whether they are worth an upgrade (which I seriously doubt, to be honest, but we'll soon see I suppose)

We should all be aware by now that 3dMark06 is not, I repeat NOT, a good indicator of gaming performance AT ALL.

I would enter your system in the Crysis Benchmark Thread, and see how it stacks up. And even then from personal experience the 9800 series cards are not close to the performance and smoothness I get out of my 8800 Ultra at 1900x1200. I bought and returned an 9800GX2 recently. The 9800 series cards do get higher overall FPS, but they seem to be limited by their minimum FPS, on top of that there is some serious stuttering at that resolution that is unsatisfactory in my opinion, even if they were $250 I wouldn't trade my Ultra away. I tried every driver out to date before I returned the card.

Kinder, gentler.

And, how much was the Ultra as compared to the 9800GTX.

Aye will be interesting to see what kinda oc's people can get with the 9800GTX's, compared to the 8800GTS G92.

Ive seen 21,000 with one G92 8800GTS. People are saying that the 9800GTX's have higher binned memory and that might be true, but from what I have seen the G92 8800GTS's shader overclocks around 400mhz more than the 9800GTX's and the GTS's core clocks a little higher on average too.

You would see that kind of score mostly because of an insanely OCed Q9650 45nm CPU. The CPU in 3DMark06 plays a HUGE role, whereas in games, well, not so much.
