Ok so I got a really good deal on this 2600xt but I think my 7600gt is better I loaded up all the new drivers on the 2600xt last night. Started up WOW and got fps of like 20-30 with my 7600gt I get in the 40-60 most of the time with everything maxed. Now atitool is crashing and when I do get into it it says the 2600xt is only running at 169 core and 179 mem. So if thats the cause then something has to be wrong. I also get black screens of death and when it comes back it says my vga had an error this is with all the new drivers off Amds website. Anyways I'm thinking of going back and buying a 9600gt and just being done with it for a bit. Any ideas would be great or if this card just sucks let me know.

Don't know what's up with the new card. Is it used? Sounds like it may be defective.

The 2600XT is about the same performance as the 7600GT, but supports DX10. Not really an upgrade. They both perform on roughly the same level as an 8600GT. The 9600GT (which performs on roughly the same level as an 8800GT) would whoop both cards asses, and for the price, I wouldn't upgrade to anything less. Maybe an 8800GS (which is still better than either card), but it's a bit slower than the 9600GT. Might as well spend the extra cash.

Since you have an SLI board, I would definitely go 9600GT (a little bit better than the 3850 512), in case you want to buy another one later on down the line. They scale very well in SLI.

The 7600GT is absolutely not as fast as the 2600XT. I tested both in the same system one after another, and in some cases the 2600 was as much as twice as fast. However, if you have a weak CPU, you may not notice a difference.

I advice go with a 7800 series instead of 1600 ATI or 1800 or 1900 series. Get a good 7800 series card for cheap like GTX or GX2 ,,, GL,,

For your processor you want a card that will give you its full potential. Your CPU is good, I suggest a 7800GTX or GX2 ,, GL,,,,

but i would go with an HD3850, which is still in the same price range (about $130). or this card, the 8800gs which is only $100 after mail in rebate.
