Well, I ended up researching the card (I'm not old enough to remember it) and the concept was there, just not implemented in the correct way.

I love the power adapter.

On topic:

I would wait it out and either buy a cheap card, or hold off on your build for now. Just over the tech-ridge is full scale USB 3.0 and SATA 6 and i9. If you're patient, the components you want now will probably lower in price when the new ones come out, or you could just buy next gen hardware.

That is why the ATI series came out so much sooner because there is less real development behind the actual card.

if you look into it deeper the 5970 is yet to pass the single card records set by the GTX 295 on HWbot in 3d mark vantage and 3d mark 06, I've yet to check other cards but considering the GTX 295 is a year old this says a lot about the potential of fermi.
Can you tell me where you got your information on the bold parts? For one last time I checked on the specs of Fermi they don't have anything close to competing with the 5970... And the first couple Fermi cards (GT360/GT380?) are supposed to be spot on competitors with the 5850 and 5870. So really the first dual Fermi card shouldn't "destroy" the 5970. (Info; http://vr-zone.com/articles/fermi-in....html?doc=8054)

Also from what I am looking at the 5870 and 5970 have stolen almost all of the first places from the GTX295?

5870; http://hwbot.org/hardware/videocard/...ll%20of%20fame

OP: Really wait it out until firm information comes out of Fermi then make your decision on if you want to go GTX295, 5970/5870, or GT3XX.

Forced? Would it be so bad?

Here are the benches for the GTX 295 vs 5970

http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=625408

But anywho, I have a gaming tournament in May of next year, I would love to have this build completed and running with flying colors. Think maybe it might out by then?

5970 win in every bench/game.

Also I'm pretty sure Fermi will be out by May. If not I don't think we will be seeing it IMO.

Hopefully. Maybe I will just wait it out until before my gaming tournament and if its out, I will get one. If not then I will just grab a GTX 295. I will just get like a 275 for now, and then once I get my new card I will use the GTX 275 for PhysX

Sounds like a nice plan. Really it will be a win win, lower prices new GPU's

PhysX overkill? I don't know much about PhysX performance, but I've seen that most people use a lower powered card to run it. If you have the cash to burn, go for it.
