My brother and i were having a conversation on aim after he noticed the wide support from the members on this forum for vista (I sent him a link so he could see the system req's) This is what he had to say.
``: My god
``: Half of these people
``: Are SUPPORTING vista!
``: I suspect they're not aware of something called integrated "trusted computing"
me: then post it with some proof
me: make them aware!
``: Yeah, I hope they realize that this "software progression" = complete and utter stagnation
``: Microsoft is attempting to stamp out the open source movement
``: Not only that
``: Some apps won't function unless you have TC enabled
``: And if you do have it enabled
``: It won't allow you to use certain things
``: Namely
``: Pirated apps

``: Most of this is controlled by a "Fritz Chip"
``: Which is on the mobo, I believe
me: odd
me: what is your source?
``: Let me fetch it again
me: ogo!

``: http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~rja14/tcpa-faq.html
``: Not the most recent article
``: But to sift through all the bull**** on google (imagine all the microsoft press releases praising it) would be like death.

enjoy?

Edit: Wikipedia... pwns - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fritz-chip

1: I wont beleive anything unless I see a more reacent artical from a site that I actualy trust.

2: It looks like it would take a LOT of work to get this implemented, not only by the software develipors but also by the hardware vendors, I dont see it hapening.

3: It would not be a good idea to make all computers require something that only the newest computers have because it would force 1000s of people, orgonazations and govenments to upgrade their entire computer system, servers and all, which can cost $100,000s.

In short, I dont see this hapening, at least not in the form that was presented in that artical.

``: Here is another website of like-minded individuals. Obviously, they loathe TC and thus is going to be a bit biased. http://www.againsttcpa.com/what-is-tcpa.html

Windows will soon be flexing it monopoly muscle
Quote:
Such programs will be called "Nexus Aware" and will be nearly impossible to debug or modify. Nexus is intended to be open source, so that people can trust that Microsoft doesn't have any backdoors in the software. Some say that the only reason for Microsoft deciding to make Nexus open source is that most countries' laws require it to be. In May 2004, Microsoft announced that Vista will not include the Nexus API, but that they had invested a considerable amount in the technology, and it will be included in future releases of Windows.

Well, it looks like its time for someone to code a OS that has 100% Windows compatibility, easy of use, is open source and is free

Sadly I cannot see something like that remotely happening in the coming years.
