I also thought about another classic I loved playing as a kid. Dune, and Dune 2000. For PC and PS1. Awesome game/movie adaptation. Turn based strategy game. But the gameplay made you feel immersed into the story line. Plus, with its live action cut scenes, it was a great play through for many many times.

Are we talking about Dune that came out in 1993? And that is turn based?
Dune 2000 is a RTS game though right?

Cool. Also added all 3 games under COOP. They support Local 2.

My apologies, I was saying RTS in my head. Typed Turn based.

Xonotic as multi-fps, hardcore and fast paced
Though beware of the "hardcore" community biggrin.gif

Ok my recommendation today. If you are looking for a hard and fast paced shoot'em up than your search is over. VELOCITY 2X is your game.

I was introduced to this game via Playstation Plus freebie when it came out and boy is it addictive and hard. Game is obviously available on Steam as well.

The game is definitaly beatable but what makes it challenging is trying to beat the perfect score in each level. At first is is no biggie, for the first 15-20 levels or so but things get really complicated towards the end.

I am creating a new section for this called SHOOT'EM UP and adding the game there. As well as to the platformer section.

If you're talking SHMUPs then I have to recommend Ikuraga. Made by the masters at Treasure, it is one of the most unique, challenging, and fun SHMUPs. You can change the "polarity" of your ship from white to black and incoming fire of the same color charges your special weapon while incoming fire of the opposite color destroys your ship. So you have to constantly pay attention to the polarity of your ship, of incoming fire, and of your enemies all while also dodging and shooting. It's good stuff.

I have come to chew bubblegum and kick ass.....and I'm all outta bubblegum.

Ikaruga! Yes! I +1 this game as well. It was short, but tons of fast paced fun. I just got flash backs of that, and Twin Eagle for NES, lol.

Another game i thought of recently, one that I had a wonderful time playing, was SuperBrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP. It's a short game, but the soundtrack and story were incredible. It was mostly a puzzle game. IT reminded me of the classic LOOM and Escape from Monkey Island from LucasArts FIlms games. And at only $8 bucks on Steam, I would highly recommend it.

+ on SuperBrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP.

Been awhile since I played that one. Very interesting game and unique in its own way.
