I have that disabled just after I turn UAC off, but before I install my video drivers for the first time.

That is quite specific ordering, sir.

I normally deal with drivers first. They're more important than some safety features that are easily bypassed by modern viruses IMO

I disable UAC and Windows Defender before I do anything else because otherwise Windows is going to be all "ZOMG NVIDIA IS TRYING TO INSTALL DRIVERS DID YOU ASK FOR IT?!" "OMG STEAM IS MAKING REG ENTRIES, DID YOU ASK FOR IT!?"

SHUT UP UAC! sozo.gif

I disable all of the hold-your-hand bull**** that comes with Windows 7 before I even install the operating system.

Wait, that's not right.

Regardless, I won't even attempt installing drivers until UAC is dead and gone, I've made sure 7 won't freak out and try to lock me out of one of MY folders, and any other security measure made for the masses to keep them from screwing up their stuff.

That's my main gripe with Windows 7. Too much security that prevents advanced users from getting things done. Would be awesome if Microsoft made a version stripped of most that BS.

Well most OCNers don't need those features. We're smart enough to not need protecting from ourselves.

I've installed Win 7 multiple times because no matter how many command prompts, folders I changed access too, and crap like that: I couldn't delete or modify files in my user's libraries.

I shouldn't have to take ownership of files that are already mine.

Upgrading to Ultimate seemed to relieve most, if not all, those issues.

Can you explain this a bit? I've been wondering how to make it so my mom can delete the icons on her desktop.

Yeah, it actually locked her out of deleting icons that were put on when I installed a program for all users. Plus, if I delete an icon on hers through the UAC, it's deleted on my desktop too.
