Mouth watering.

If it's like 350$, a must buy.

If GTX 680 doesn't turn out great as rumored. I'm getting HD 7970. I'm tired of waiting.

They can also claim the win with their mid range product and marketing can wave the 'fastest' flag stigma.
Show your competitor that you've got good cards but don't lay them all on the table.

All of that is speculation without any reasoning to back it up. The last time Nvidia was dominating in sales was with the 8800GT. And if you recall, the 8800 Ultra was around $700. I find it much more plausible that if Nvidia had a decent supply of 780's, Nvidia would turn the GTX 780 (whatever it's called) into the next 8800 Ultra and price it in the $650 range, instead of settling for a 10% performance gain over AMD. Or, just use it to compete with AMD's 7990. As it stands, it looks like AMD will go into the dual-GPU market with no competition.

Also, you're assuming that the 680 is indeed faster. If it is, AMD could just as easily turn it into a pissing contest and release a 7970 Ghz edition to tie/beat it. This seems like in reality there won't be a clear winner, and if that's the case, all review sites will say so. And Nvidia will have to compete on pricing, something it (historically) hates doing with flagships.

I believe Nvidia is having yields issues, it makes sense to attack the mainstream sales first since that's where most of their sales come from so no surprise there! The fact the Nvidia's mainstream card can compete with AMD's 7970 card only hints to how well GK110 will perform, which might take a little longer to be released (Q4).

I think it's funny people think this card will be less then 500 dollars.

With a 10% increase over the 7970 in BF3 I'm guessing it's about equal or a little slower then the 7970 considering BF3 favors NV cards and the 70 beats it in 3dmark 11.

Also this is going to be Nvidia's top end card for a long time guys. There is a reason they are calling it the 680. Don't expect anything better then it til next-generation.

Of course this is all speculation on my part but I'm almost positive I'm right.

Interested in seeing how the boost does in SLI configurations.
Sometimes loads aren't spread equally between the cards, what happens then?
