I don't know about that, Clovertrail+ uses a high clocked PowerVR SGX 544MP2. Not cutting edge but also not something I'd throw around the term "artifacts" to describe. Still don't see why Samsung would put it in their Android running Tab 3 considering their own ARM SoCs are a better fit unless Intel offered some nice pricing/incentives (likely).

@Jimbags, current Atom is slow. Slower than competing ARM SoCs actually, that slow. With the Temash/Kabini launch AMD has a better product in the TDPs they are covering. Speculate on what future Atom will bring but it won't be out for a while, would you compare Haswell when it launches in a week to whatever AMD is going to launch at the end of the year?

Clovertrail+ (not z2760) actually has exactly 2/3rds the gpu power of the exynos octa hardware wise, would you argue that the Exynos Octa's gpu also causes artifacts?

I don't know why you keep saying that.  The speed and performance of the GPU has nothing to do with it causing artifacts.  The HD5450 I have in my HTPC is a piece of crap performance-wise, but it doesn't "cause artifacts".

Forceman's Law: Any AMD/Nvidia GPU thread, no matter what the topic, will eventually include a post referencing the GTX 970.

Windows based OS with crappy Intel drivers is what he is pointing at.
On the other hand that is not what will be on this tab so why even argue about it xD.

i didnt deny performance of amd soc's at all. im not comparing amd chips to unreleased atom. what im saying is that some people are, and are automatically thinking next atom will be bad. like me saying fx series cpu's suck compared to intel equivilent so their next cpu's launched will too. You obviously misinterpreted what i was saying.

My opinion:
Wow... Clover Trail+ Atom? Can't wait to see artifacts, blue screen of death plus tons of customers wanting refunds.rolleyes.gif

mmmm Android with BSOD? jealoussmiley.gif
Some people really need to check their facts

Anyway, Clover trail+ is a good CPU compared to the previous version of Atom. http://www.anandtech.com/show/6790/intels-clover-trail-dualcore-cpu-and-graphics-unveiled-at-mwc-2013

Samsung like other OEM's dont make these kind of decisions lightly, Samsung Galaxy is one of the best known tablet brands and competes the all the other top tablets in the market, so I doubt they would make a such a big decision lightly. And they picked to go with an Intel Inside the all the good reasons.

(also i checked your other posts, its just been mindless AMD fan posts, how about some well thought out contribution to the Overclock.Net community? you might enjoy it here then. Good Luck)

Seems I did, missed where people were saying next version of Atom will be terrible (did anyone say next Atom will be terrible?). Imo, should be an interesting match up WHEN Silvermont hits retail. Until then, no denying Clover Trail+ is a bit of an oddball in Android devices.

Comparing it to Samsung's own SoCs, either Samsung is getting a nice deal on these chips from Intel or they are hitting supply limits in regards to their own foundry. Given how many units Samsung has been moving, supply issues wouldn't be surprising.

**See's Vampirr posting something not AMD related**

**Checks outside for flying pigs**

**Checks Hell not frozen over**

...then realises everything apart from the URL in the first post was created to bash Intel

Note: I know Galaxy Tab does not use Windows while that does not mean there won't be crashes and artifacts on screen.
You see the bolded part, yea... Anyway when Android/Linux crashed you see Black Screen Of Death.

BSOD means/stands for Blue/Black Screen Of Death but I pointed at Windows since we all know its common with Intel's Atoms to have artifacts, Bay Trail will be soon out in Q4 2013 so that all will be gone most likely if Intel drivers get a tad better.

I would not "bash" if Galaxy Tab 3 would use Bay Trail, since it does not and we know that Bay Trail is months away and first Bay Trail available will be a Quad Core with TDP of 4-10 watts most likely since I doubt they could go below 4 except if couple of cores get shutdown.

Also AMD's refresh called "Beema" is around the same time as Bay Trail, maybe even Q3 and not Q4...

Exactly, which is why I don't know ow why he keeps saying it. Well, actually I do know why, but I'd like to hear his reasoning/explanation/rationalization for why.
