that rly that much of a leap forward

Price here for 980 used to be 550-600 euro
so let say 220 euro for 980+ performance isnt a great leap forward?

Maybe you mean a 1080 for 800 euro is such a leap? biggrin.gif

Well the 1070 delivers 980ti performance for %60 percent of the price and people seem to consider that a reasonable jump. The 480 delivers 390x performance for %50 of the price so it should be considered a reasonable jump as well right?

Regardless of what you say, the fact remains that the first line of my statement, albeit mostly in jest, is fundamentally correct and that the 970 is an inherently flawed card.

I was agreeing with you, and replying that I agreed with the points you made. Relax, friend.

It's a matter of perception.
980 Ti was last gen's killer GPU that everyone and their mom wanted, it was the king. To see it dethroned by a cheaper product increases that cheaper product's value beyond what the price/performance by itself warrants.
390X wasn't a king, and its dethronement doesn't sound nearly as awesome as the dethronement of the 980 Ti.

It will.
1070 to expensive for its performance so is 1080.
480 is the King now
Feels good to be the King with AMD

The 980ti was last generations king of performance but the 390x was arguably the best performance value. The price just got cut in half so anyone shopping based on value should be ecstatic.

Value king, this isn't exactly top shelf levels of performance we are talking about here. I understand that you are excited but try not to get too carried away.

actually I am still debating on whether to get this or still stay with my 290x. It still has much life left at stock overclock and if I overclock it to 390x level I should still be fine for the next 3 to 4 years maybe even a little bit longer.

Just praying that RTG doesn't driver update the R9 200s to oblivion

Ignorance does not hate nor does it care and thus i neither liked you or hate you. Thus bringing forth eternal peace.

I don't think this is really much of an upgrade for a 290x owner. I would wait for the 390x or higher replacement before buying something, if you don't want to go team green.
