According Damien Triolet, a known and respected GPU reviewer (who, as you might remember, helped to unravel the secrets in GTX 970 memory allocation problem), ASUS and MSI are sending cards with modified BIOSes to the press. Such software enables more power on review samples, which leads to increased frequencies and better results overall.

To be fair, power limits shouldn't exist in the first place

It's like news story inception.

The original is liked in the thread about reviews, then TPU responds and a thread is made, then Videocardz writes an article about TPU's article and we get another thread!

People are getting upset over a setting that comes standard? If the reviewers were doing their job then all the cards would be set to that setting,if available.

This isn't even news worthy, its a bloody stock toggle.

This has been happening ever since I have memory with Nvidia cards, now that this happen with AMD cards it suddenly becomes a problem.

On today's day and age you really have to die drowned on sodium overload to see a truthful picture of a tech related product, like with Nvidia's FE boost clocks, throttling and its "61c" operating temperature under load or the overclocker's dream.

Hardware.fr were first, then we wrote our story, then TPU published theirs, but I think TPU were working on their story earlier smile.gif

BTW I have been contacted by many editors after publishing this story, everyone confirmed that this was happening for a while.

Yeah, I was referring to the multiple threads about this same topic here on OCN. I totally understand multiple websites reporting on the story.
