I live in wisconsin too and its gonna be in the 20's tomorrow. I'm betting that will be enough to cause instability. There is no such thing as a 5ghz 5960x at normal air temperatures.

Still it's gotta be cool to be able to run benches at 5ghz with that thing. You might be the only person on the planet running one at 5ghz right now.

My Silicon Lottery 4.7 5960X can bench 5GHz at ambient, with hyperthreading off at least.

I see you have a custom wcooling.
I'm interested to know a few things smile.gif
So SL test their CPUs with a closed-loop wcooling thus, my question is, what is the highest STABLE overclock(1H or more of RealBench) you could get with your 4.7G SL chip and what temps you were getting(also water tepms) and what voltages.
Can you get 4.8G stable at some reasonable voltages ? or 4.85? or 4.75 ?
(i'm interested only in 1h+ stable oveclocks)

Thanks!thumb.gif

CPU: Intel i7 4790K @5.1Ghz MB: Asus Maximus VII Formula RAM: 4x4GB Corsair Dominator Platinum 2666CL10 VGA: Nvidia GTX 1080 FE 2.2GHz SDD: 2x Samsung 840 PRO 256GB(RAID0) + Samsung 850 EVO 500GB PSU: SuperFlower Leadex Platinum 1200W MON: Asus Swift PG278Q 27" (CPU bought from: https://siliconlottery.com/)

I don't have my 5960X up and running now, playing with Skylake at the moment. The most I could get realbench stable was 4.7GHz at 1.3V, even 1.425V wouldn't get 4.8 realbench stable. I didn't try going for 4.75.

At 1.3V temps weren't an issue (less than 80C), at 1.425V temperatures were uncomfortable in the 90s. Water temps stay about 2C above ambient.
