Hello All

As the title says, I'm in need of some help that I thought would be easy. Currently I have my PS3, hooked up HDMI to my Dell U2713HM, after that I have the optical cable(spdif) from the PS3 into my SoundBlaster Z optical in port. I've plugged my green speaker cable into every single hole on that card and no sound is coming out of it. I'm beginning to think that I need an optical out cable running to a receiver in order to get sound coming out...something I hope isn't true, can someone please help me with this issue?

Check windows sound/recording devices, for example when using ps3 --> line-in you need to check "listen to this device" box from the line-in settings (in the windows sound panel, not soundcard panel).

Hey Tiihokatti

I don't see where it says listen to this device in sound/recording, although at recording under digital-in, the green bars are all the way up, but in playback and sounds tab, there is nothing.

okay, I found the "listen to" that you were talking about, I enabled it and pointed it towards the speakers...however all I hear is static, not like static from a bad connection on a phone, but it was more of repetitive noise at a fast rate. know what could be causing that?

If you hear static, most likely the ps3 has DTS/DDL! encoding on while the soundcard has it off.
Same thing happened when I plugged my xbox360 with optical to MS40 speaker DAC, switched the DDL! off and everything was working.

If you only use stereo speakers, just turn the DDL!/DTS off from the ps3. It's useless for you.

Well... The little audiophile inside me is yelling "burn them in hell!", but I would say they are decent for that kind of use (if the price is right, as m-audio AV40 and Behringer MS40 are cheaper here in Finland).
