I'm wondering if I will see a big difference with a sound card like an Asus Xonar Stx while listening to music with my hd 555s. I've heard people say theres a big difference, but I'm a nub, and I don't know tongue.gif.

well the new mobo wouldn't allow me to use my sound card and crossfire
so i tired the onboard sound guess who won
im using a single video card now till i can get a pci1x sound card

An ASUS Xonar Essence STX will most definitely be an improvement over pretty much all integrated audio. I'm speaking from experience as an HD 555 owner.

i also use hd555 with x-fi forte soundcard and i think this sounds better than my on-board realtek sound chip. it really depends on an individual's ability to tell how well the music sounds to them

Sounds way better with my D2X than not; my non-audiophile roommate thinks the same.

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

I have like $300 and an upgrading itch (not a good combo lol ). I was wondering, since a lot of people tell me to get a sound card, if something like an Asus Xonar STX would make a big enough differnce with my HD555s (that are modded with the foam removal mod) to justify spending $200. Thanks!

If you have crappy onboard, which is 99% of all onboard, you will notice a difference. Depends on if it is worth it to you to spend that much for a slight clarity difference.

Compared to onboard? Definitely. The STX will greatly improve sound quality. and the built-in amp will enhance your experience substantially.
