So I've been contemplating between SSDs for a while. A Vertex 3 120Gb costs $300 and the Max IOPs version is $320. A 256Gb C300 is less $400 on eBay (brand new). And the M4 costs $500.
In this thread I would only like to discuss real-life differences between SSDs.

How significant is the real-world difference between these SSDs.

It's not worth it as far as I'm concerned.

Rest in peace, Syrillian.

Real-life differences are minimal and hardly noticeable.

YES. The biggest performance bang for your buck. BUT, stay away from SATA III as there's no TRIM in any III controllers yet, only Garbage Collection. If you can find a old OCZ Vertex 2 34nm go with that as the new Vertex 3 is a 25nm slower drive.

The C300 is a SATA III drive. I'd stay away from that as I said it has no TRIM for lack of a controller w/TRIM.

it's true, solution, switch it to ur sata 2 for a day and let trim work, or you let your pc on over the night and have garbage collection kick in.
