Your drive are recognize as SCSI drive because every Intel RST driver after 11.2.0.1006 is made to do so.
Samsung Magician cant see drives in Raid field,so you have to update SSDs with ISO file burn on bootable cd or usb.
If you dont feel comfortable doing with ISO,you can always install just Windows and Magician on some spare drive in AHCI mode and do it.
I know, stupid thing from Samsung that Samsung magician cant recognize SSDs in Raid field. They could do it one version like Parted Magic for us that have raid field, because i think every fifth 840 pro is in raid field. Its like they saying:"Dont buy another drive from us"

Well, figured I'd give Windows 8 a try and updated the firmware while I was in the process. 30 minutes later, I'm reinstalling Windows 7 lol. Took me 10 minutes to figure out how to restart!

Hello everyone

Can someone please tell me why in my Samsung 840 PRO 128 GB the atribute number EB POR Recovery Count looks so strange ? In my second Samsung 840 250 GB it looks normal.

I found that POR Recovery Count is something like unsafe shutdown.

I've tried searching through this thread without success, but has anyone done a breakdown of the 840 120 vs the 830 128? I occasionally see 830s come on sale and was wondering if I should snap one up or just wait for another $90 sale on the 840.

NB: I am a very happy owner of a 830 256GB for my desktop. I want to pop a new SSD into my 6 year old laptop since it's chugging along just fine but could use a speed boost. I'm running Ubuntu on it.

If it's going in a laptop just get an 830, It's not really going to matter much. I was under the impression the 830 and 840 perform very similarly anyway.

For a laptop, I'd get a non-pro 840 smile.gif
