nicolas, the Marvell controller on the Sabertooth is REALLY bad. That's why you aren't getting the speeds you want - it's not the first time I've heard someone complain about the speeds from the Sabertooth.

Yeah, I know, but there has to be another solution aside from changing MoBo + CPU, I just putted this thing together almost 2 months ago frown.gif I didn't go with Sandy because it was new, and didn't know what to expect.

switch to the sata II intel hardware raid, and your score will go out of the roof... the marvel controller only does a virtual raid and is worthless. = problem solved

then make sure to install the intel RST software for trim support, and you'll be polished

OK, I'm going to do that as soon as I get home. By changing the sata port I won't be messing my windows installation, will I? Also, by doing so I can turn off the marvell controller, and shave time from the booting process. POST takes almost twice with it on.

OK...clearly I'm aware of this or I would not have posted the questions. A guide ought to have pertinent answers available from the start. This one did not in this case for what I was asking, so I asked specifically where they are in this massive thread. If you don't know where to find it in this thread that is all you have to say.

OK, I forgot to install the intel RST software. What do you guys think? I'm still very disappointed.

er...of course performance will be worse from sata3 to sata2, your scores do look well low though, you are also running in IDE not AHCI mode

Try this http://www.windows7news.com/2010/05/25/how-to-enable-ahci-in-windows-7/ to get into AHCI from windows. Remember though that ASSD will slaughter your benchmarks maybe after you get running in AHCI leave the systm logged off a few times to recover before u ASSSD bench again

Then 1st, navigate to where shown in registry and make sure you have the value set at 0 as shown.

and/or....
go to >control panel> device manager>IDE/ATA/ATAPI controllers and uninstall the ata drivers you have, then restart so its on the standard msahci drivers then look at the reg mod and see if its set at 0, if not change it to 0 and restart.

Also ATTO benchmark is probably better than ASSSD if you are doing a lot of benching to test your set up. Its not as hard on the drive
