No phones, no tablets, no consoles, no Windows 8, no Skype, no keyboards, no mice, no cameras, nada.

Once they straighten up their act and stop dictating to the end user like some slumlord, THEN I will change my mind, but not before.

lol.. this. 100x this.

Well it is an end of an era, my N95 was still one of my favourite phones of all times.

Lets hope that Microsoft do not get their grubby little hands on the audio department as well. The speakers in the S-Class Mercedes were amazing and blew the Bose system clean out of the water at the time.

No trees were destroyed in the writing of this signature, but a significant number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.

This, in my opinion, is one of the greatest things that could have happened to Nokia. Now they are teamed up with unlimited resources to do all the R&D they want, as well as a company that is also known for stifling innovation through monopolistic tactics, failing, then getting blow out of the water by more innovative companies anyway

fixed

I recently upgraded from a Lumia 800 to a 925. Both are amazing phones.

Microsoft has purchased Nokia's Devices and Services unit. The move unites Windows Phone 8 with its biggest hardware supporter, and gives the company an integrated solution it simply hasn't had — and has searched for with the Surface and other devices. When the deal closes in the first quarter of 2014, Microsoft will pay 3.79 billion Euros for Nokia's business, plus another 1.65 billion Euros for its portfolio of patents.

anyone else read this and think ms is throwing its hat in the phone patent troll ring?

it's the same thing google did with motorola. it can be seen as a patent troll move, but the reality is google, apple, and ms all need ip to protect their platforms, and give them leverage against their competitors especially those who will likely be using their patents against them. so really it's something that has both defensive and offensive patent implications for ms

That's quite cheap compared to how many patents nokia has and the price M$ paid for skype. In my opinion Nokia got shafted.
