Sounds impressive for now, but considering it comes out in late 2017, it is only slightly better than when Xbone n PS4 came out in 2013 spec wise.

Why is everyone thinking the just the GPU part of the XB Scorpio will be 6TF? headscratch.gif If I had to guess I bet the 6TF figure comes from the CPU & GPU cores performance combined. Remember this mostly likely to have an APU inside of it, not a separate dGPU & CPU. Unless MS just say F it & releases a XB branded pre-built PC. If that is the case XBS will cost way more than we have ever seen in the console market (I'm thinking $1k & that may be a conservative estimate under this scenario) & also have to eschew the console form factor for something much larger than we have ever seen in the console market. If things shake out that way I bet the XBS will be a very unreliable "console"with high failure rates. Since MS would be forced to cheap out on almost all of the main components to keep costs as low as they can. Pretty much like buying a pre-built PC from ibuypower or cyberpowerpc off the shelve at BestBuy. rolleyes.gif

Then there is the promise of games supporting native 4k resolution, I have a funny feeling that will only apply to the lightest indie titles. Games like BoI, Hyper Light Drifter, etc. which could be run in 4k with a 950/370 for Christ's sake! doh.gif Maybe I'm just being a naysayer but after all the problems the XB360 had & all the not delivered on promises of the XB1 I personally am not gonna believe a word of what Phil Spencer said till I see some real proof.gif in the form of benchmarks from a functioning XBS done by an unbiased source.

Don't get me wrong I would love to see a truly powerful console like MS is claiming but I just do not trust them to deliver on those claims with anything that resembles a gaming console in price or form factor. I'd advise everybody to take this announcement with a 1 ton block of salt, but that is just my 2cents.gif on it...

Well, be fair though... that's only cuz the CPU on xbone 1 and ps4 is very weak..

The dev at the 4:54 timestamp says it has "8 CPU cores, over 320 GB/s of memory bandwith, 6TF of GPU power."

It probably is, but the CPU is contributing almost nothing to that number. Remember that while high-end GPUs can easily push well over 5 theoretical TFLOPS, CPUs can't even hit a tenth of that; and I highly doubt the Scorpio is going to pack the i7-EE or high-clocked Zen 8-core that it'd need to get anywhere near even that.

They said 4k, not 4k at 60Hz. Considering that 6 TFLOPS means Scorpio has at minimum an overclocked Polaris 10 (or, perhaps more likely, Vega), which, from the looks of it, is pretty close to a Fury in performance, 4k30 seems perfectly reasonable on heavier titles.

6 Tflops will probably be Vega GPU with G5X. PC Vega will be a lot higher clocked. Could be a Full 40 CU Polaris 10 with high clock speed and G5X. That's a possibility too.

Someone at 3:45 in the above video says they can render at 60Hz.

4K30 is very possible. Problem is that if they use similar CPU they will have problem with 60Hz gaming.

It doesn't have to run The Witcher 3 PC maxed settings at 4k. It just has to run The Witcher 3 Xbox One S/original version of the game at 4k 30/60fps. This is probably going to be a long generation like last one. I wouldn't be surprised if later in the generation 1080p is abandoned on the base console for 720p in favor of higher quality assets for 4k that would shine in 4k. If this works out and this generation is long, it could mean the Nintendo NX could last a good number of years before a PS4/XboxWhatever show up while only matching the hardware of the base consoles.

As a PC-Gamer..

We secretly wish PC gaming would die.. Upgrading components is stupid.. I DON"T WANT to keep doing this.. it's not fun.... biggrin.gif

They should also release a WIN MODE... where all the graphics settings are tunable on the xbox 2.. get my 300 fps, to frag some newbs..

Then we're in the CPU bound area again though sigh...............................
