Why is everyone thinking the just the GPU part of the XB Scorpio will be 6TF?
If I had to guess I bet the 6TF figure comes from the CPU & GPU cores performance combined. Remember this mostly likely to have an APU inside of it, not a separate dGPU & CPU. Unless MS just say F it & releases a XB branded pre-built PC. If that is the case XBS will cost way more than we have ever seen in the console market (I'm thinking $1k & that may be a conservative estimate under this scenario) & also have to eschew the console form factor for something much larger than we have ever seen in the console market. If things shake out that way I bet the XBS will be a very unreliable "console"with high failure rates. Since MS would be forced to cheap out on almost all of the main components to keep costs as low as they can. Pretty much like buying a pre-built PC from ibuypower or cyberpowerpc off the shelve at BestBuy.
Then there is the promise of games supporting native 4k resolution, I have a funny feeling that will only apply to the lightest indie titles. Games like BoI, Hyper Light Drifter, etc. which could be run in 4k with a 950/370 for Christ's sake!
Maybe I'm just being a naysayer but after all the problems the XB360 had & all the not delivered on promises of the XB1 I personally am not gonna believe a word of what Phil Spencer said till I see some real
in the form of benchmarks from a functioning XBS done by an unbiased source.
Don't get me wrong I would love to see a truly powerful console like MS is claiming but I just do not trust them to deliver on those claims with anything that resembles a gaming console in price or form factor. I'd advise everybody to take this announcement with a 1 ton block of salt, but that is just my
