Hi All!

After my last disappointing air cooling experience, I am thinking about diving into the water... so to speak!

My main hurdle seems to be the radiator. I have an Antec 902, and as many know, it is difficult to mount a 240 rad inside. If I do, I believe the front is the best option. I am just unsure how the fans will mount if the HDD cages are removed.

Anyway,

I am not opposed to an external mount, however I do have a nosey feline that cant keep her paws out of fans... So safety is a concern.

I was wondering if anyone new of a secure, stand-alone radiator hosing that could be used. It could be a box, or a tower. I have lots of room around my rig, but not inside. I think It would make a great cooling solution to have a stand-alone unit. I am unsure however, if tubing length would be an issue for the pump etc...

Any suggestions are appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Edit: A 240 mm rad is a must (or larger, I may want to expand to GPU one day). thumb.gif

I would try and mount it in the front! It would be an awesome project. I remember seeing one guy mount his rad in the front using super sticky double sided tape. You could find a creative way with tape or zip ties to mount it im sure thumb.gifbiggrin.gif

I built one once, and that was the easiest way to go I think, and it gives you options for creativity and experimentation. I just built a small vertical box with mounting holes for the rad and some acrylic windows + lights for cool affect. I basically built it like a regular case, but just for holding a rad. If I still had it I would offer it up to you, but i gave it to my friend a while back.

In short : I would suggest building one, easiest materials to use, MDF wood, or acrylic in my opinion.

if you only have one hard drive you can mount it to the bottom of the case, and put a 360 rad in the front if i'm not mistaken

Thanks for all your replies everybody!

The Koolance unit was pretty much along the lines of what I was thinking. Unfortunately, It is not well received from what I have been reading.

And, you guys are right. It would make a sweet project to make it work in the case I have, or make a radbox myself.

@somebadlemonade - I have seen a nice 902 with the 360 in front. Nice and clean too! But then I have an optical drive, HDD and SSD to put somewhere. I am thinking of putting the pump on the bottom. I have seen mods with the res and pump on the back wall though (above the PSU). I would love to throw a 360 in there though to have the option of cooling more components down the road!

I have a lot of research ahead of me anyway, since I am new to H2O cooling. I have a limited budget, and if I muck this up I'm screwed lol! I am gonna continue to read the water cooling experiences here at OCN, and try to make a good decision.

Thanks everybody! cheers.gif

Have you looked into getting one of these kits? xspc Rasa kits, 240 rad, or 360 rad. They give you everything you need.
