We have reps come in all the time at work. but the most recent was from fujitsu and after 45 mins of listening to him go on and on. he let loose that the major frustration from fujitsu with MS is that MS is pressuring them to stop building lappy's with XP on it. to the point that they suggested the possibility of phasing itout much like 9x is now.. in favour of forcing us all to adopt a yet unacceptable OS. this may be nothing but hearsay but if its enough to get a fujitsu reps feathers russled then it could be in store... nice

It's been posted that they're phasing it out, but it's stupid that they won't let companies use it on their pre built computers .

its a bone of contention of mine. 90% of lost lappy sales are due to people simply NOT wanting vista. and most manufacturers will void your warrenty if you get rid of it. im not liking this new approach MS has. they arent even done fixing it

fujitsu is one of the leading lappy suppliers, not so much in NA. but the rest of the world they've got it going on. and for them the bow to MS is a bad sign all else will

I thought MS announced they are ending support June 2009? My company finally just upgraded to XP cause they had to.

To answer most of your questions: (1) a fridge cannot cool a PC (2) 64-bit OS for over 3.4GB (3) If a PCIe card fits, it should work (4) Resolution, not screen size (5) Report, not respond to Spam (6) Single-Rail/Non-Modular PSUs are not always better than Multi-Rail/Modular (7) Sequential does not matter as much as random for OS drives (8) Requirements come before hardware for servers

I hope XP gets cheaper before it phases out. Going to buy a few and save them.

The idea is that it won't be available anymore rather than relegated to the bargain bin

... You can still buy Win 2000, right? So why fade out XP so quickly. While I don't favor any of the MS products, I'm not going Vista.

M$ has a lot riding on vista - much more than they did with XP. They need it to push dx10 and stem the flow of consumers to OSX and linux that has been picking up steam. Corporate clients have been resistant to the switch which has made M$ much more aggressive in its push for vista
