i just want to point out that none of the arguments in this thread for either side are based on fact lol. You all just keep yelling at each other. I say we leave it well enough alone some people have problems with vista some dont lets leave it at that.

And people... C'mon. This wasn't actually intended to me made into a flame war.... (Although HundredGunner is right... it pretty much is a personalized "ihatevista" thread).

Just as well though, I never said I hate Vista. You guys gotta remember what I said in the original post when you reply... True, the title might be argument enough, but read what I said. Please.

And honestly... all you people who talk about these types of threads needing to be closed, I guess if you hate them that much, then stay away

Actually, I'm quite disappointed in the people of this forum, that they can't have a discussion without getting a thread either locked or deleted.

I'm all for discussion - I like that. But more often than not it gets stupid...

Ive used Vista Ultimate, Basic, and Premium. I think Ultimate is a waste of money and system resources, but Premium and Basic are very good. With a little time/effort/research Vista performs as good as XP if not better in my opinion.

Systems Ive used Vista on:

Athlon XP 3200+ 1GB RAM

Pentium D 2.8Ghz 3GB RAM

Intel Celeron M 1.5Ghz 512MB RAM

The only systems I noticed any slowdown was the Celeron with 512MB RAM, but was very stable and very usuable even under light gaming.
My cheap mobo doesnt support Vista or else I would be using it now.

Whatever makes you happy dude..

Reformatted my laptop for Vista January 07 and havent had a SINGLE BSOD.

Been 100% Vista on my sig rig since April 07.. i lost a few FPS for a much better environment, and now i get the same FPS as XP.

-Superfetch FTW
-Free Ram in vista is not the same as free ram in XP, and for games or programs that need ram superfetch scales down to give however much ram is needed.
-Indexed startmenu search rocks
-Aero/3D desktop environment >>>>>>>> Luna (XP)
-Inability for drivers to crash the kernel
-Inability for single applications to hang the entire OS
-i <3 the sidebar

I've been with vista since it went RTM and it has only gotten better. When it went RTM is was really buggy and slow compared to the "mature" XP. That was over a year ago and now Vista is leagues beyond XP.

In the end you can use whatever OS you want, but dont base how good an OS is by 3DEpenismark3000 scores, or by a few FPS... base it on how it works for you and how well you enjoy or dislike working with it.

Agreed.

I have never had an easier time setting up a computer. Things like RAID drivers, partitioning/formatting, networking/wireless, media sharing, peripheral driver installation, DUAL MONITORS in extended desktop mode, and many other things have never gone smoother or been less painless.

In my experience with it, I do think they ripped off something from the Mac OS: "it just works."
