basically I've set my CPU to 42x multi and core v to 1.265v (it won't stay stable at anything less..bad OC chip I guess).
When I'm stressing under Prime95 blend now and again the multi fluctuates between 39 and 42 like it will stay at 39-40 for a couple of minutes then back up to 41-42 for a while and so on and so forth, is this normal?
just as I type this one core failed after about 2 hours stressing, obviously even more v core is needed *sigh* but the multi dropping like that..is that a sign of insufficient voltage or just normal as the tests go through?
What all settings have you changed in your bios for the overclock? It shouldn't move the multi if it's under stress, is it staying 100% load the whole time? That doesn't seem like that high of voltage for the OC, I wouldn't say you have a bad chip.

ok well I've just gone into the BIOS now and changed the vcore to 1.280, turned on Internal PLL overvoltage (I keep reading conflicting reports as to whether this is needed or not) and changed the power limits thingy - the short to 150w from 118w and the long to 105w from 95w.
Other than that, I've changed the vcore and multi (obv), disabled spread spectrum and set the correct timings and voltage for my memory. LLC is set to 5 (auto apparently, set it at 1 and that was a complete disaster)
Making the changes above seems to have done something, been blending for 10 mins and its not dropped, usually it would have been up and down a few times by now. Temps not exceeded 66 degrees
edit:
ah there you go munaim1, thanks alot  I didn't know what to exactly put in there but seems I can bump them up a bit, oh yea and I had changed the core current limit to 250 as well
Overnight I ran 1.280 with the other settings with 43 multi..one core failed. ***
I have notched it down to 42 multi with 1.290 vcore and left it stressing whilst at work, so when I get home tonight I'll have to see how it's done - if a core has failed again I'm going to rage quit
