Exit CCC Overdrive and Afterburner then edit;

1. Go to regedit (start > search programs and files > "regedit").
2. In drop down menu: find file > type "enableulps".
3. For ALL instances (keep pressing F3) change the "1" value to a "0".
4. Reboot PC.

Thanks for your replies guys, Ken i did what you said and changed the value to "0" and rebooted. However I overclocked my two cards using my overclock profile with MSI after burner. btw Its a profile Ive used for over a year and is 100% stable. My system again locked up and crashed with a blue screen. This time I was running 3DMark11. Here is my blue screen info it gave me this time.

012812-24850-01.dmp 1/28/2012 6:21:27 PM 0x00000116 fffffa80`0aebd010 fffff880`031ad8f0 00000000`00000000 00000000`00000002 pacer.sys pacer.sys+4754000 x64 ntoskrnl.exe+7cc40 C:\Windows\Minidump\012812-24850-01.dmp 8 15 7601 307,688

I took a look at the dump file, the bugcheck is a 0x116: VIDEO_TDR_ERROR, yours specifically is a GRAPHICS_DRIVER fault. The following hardware issues are examples that can cause a TDR event:
Quote:
- Failing overclock on CPU or GPU (stop overclocking)
- Bad sector in memory resulting in corrupt data being communicated between GPU and the system (either video or system memory) ( MemTest and a video memory stress test: |MG| Video Memory Stress Test 1.7.116 Download )
- Corrupt hard drive/windows install resulting in corruption to the system registry or the page file (Hard drive diagnostics ( HD Diagnostic ), reset your pagefile
It's not a true crash, in the sense that the bluescreen was initiated only because the combination of video driver and video hardware was being unresponsive, and not because of any synchronous processing exception".

Since Vista, the "Timeout Detection and Recovery" (TDR) components of the OS video subsystem have been capable of doing some truly impressive things to try to recover from issues which would have caused earlier OSs like XP to crash.

As a last resort, the TDR subsystem sends the video driver a "please restart yourself now!" command and waits a few seconds.

NOTE: If overclocking, please reset the system to default values while troubleshooting it.

In most cases, it's a simple graphics driver issue, so the first thing I recommend you do is completely uninstall and reinstall the LATEST version of your video card drivers. It's important not to get beta drivers at this time, as we're trying to diagnose an issue.

Enable 'Unofficial Overclcoking"

Also, did you increase the voltage to sustain the higher clocks?

  • Disable ULPS
  1. Go to regedit (start > search programs and files > "regedit").
  2. In drop down menu: find file > type "enableulps".
  3. For ALL instances (keep pressing F3) change the "1" value to a "0".
  4. Reboot PC.

Note: disable ULPS then proceed to enable "unofficial overclocking" and never override Afterburner with Catalyst installation.

Well fellas I found the problem, It was a old issue with my cards not getting enough power from the pcie bus or bad connection with in the bus.

For over a year Ive had to wiggle or re seat the cards in the bus. Mainly because when i played games I got a sudden shutdown, kinda like when you have a bad power supply.

Ive had my power supply RMA twice and use a New Corsair 1150 and still had the same issue. This time around i got a blue screen which threw me off because like i said before i would usually get a sudden shutdown. Also i went to my #2 and my #3 bus and thought i had solved the problem, thinking that i had a bad #1 pcie bus. I guess its time to upgrade from this x58 board any way. I cant seem to maintain a good 4GHz overclock any more I'm thinking maybe my vrm's or caps are going bad.

But yea i took my cards out and re seated them and all is fine. I'm thinking the heavy water blocks on the cards is not helping too.

Thanks again guys for your help.
