I tried to update the firmware of the naga hex. Didn't seem to work. Tried to restart it. Mouse won't even light up now. The naga hex is recognized as a "unknown device" and razer sent me a manual update file for the firmware but it still doesn't work.
Here is their email:
We are sorry about the problems you have experienced with the Synapse update to your Razer Naga Hex. We have a manual version of the firmware update that should quickly revive your mouse. Simply click on the link below and extract the zip file to your desktop. From there run the "DeviceUpdater.exe" file and follow the on screen instructions to flash the firmware to your unit.
Please note this manual version will set the color of your Naga Hex interface to Red instead of Green. You can choose to keep the red interface and it will have no effect on the performance of your mouse. If you prefer the green interface we will soon follow up with you and forward you a firmware version that contains the proper green interface.
I tried the whole "hold the left, middle, and right" button thing, doesn't seem to work. Windows makes a nice noise when plugging it in and taking it out, so it recognizes something.
Can anyone help? I really don't want to have to wait 3 weeks for another mouse.
does someone know how to go back to "green" version firmware?? After the firmwareupdate synapse is showing me the red version naga hex :/
btw I also had this firmwarefailure, but managed somehow to install the driver in the devicemanager, sadly I don't remember how
I've got the same issue, firmware upgrade failed, mouse not recognized. I tried to run the manual update listed here, but it just says no device detected. Rebooting, unplugging mouse, etc does not get me past no mouse detected.
Any idea how to get windows to recognize the mouse enough to run the manual update?
I have the same exact issue. Last night my mouse updated and the update failed, today it wouldn't work. I looked in the device manager and at first mine was showing the mouse as "razer bootloader" and it would not light up or work at all. I uninstalled Synapse 2.0 and the razer firmware updater and then reinstalled them. Now it shows as Unknown Device and the manual updater doesn't work.
I tried it on two different machines and comes up as unknown device on both. Hopefully someone can figure this out.........
I've been looking for a manual driver install but I've not had any luck, maybe I should try to find my factory disc.....
With the Naga Hex Plugged in please open Device Manager
Find the undetected device
Right click and go to find device driver
follow the prompts to direct the installer to the folder you unzipped the drivers to.
Once the device installs follow these updated directions:

Should the update fail, Please follow the instructions below.
Try this method and it should help. Please note, it is helpful if you have a second mouse connected during the firmware update as the mouse may be unresponsive during the updating procedure.
3) Now reconnect the mouse to the computer and after 5 seconds release the three buttons. Windows should detect a new USB device and the update should proceed.
*Should the firmware update fail, please exit the firmware updater and run the firmware updater again. If possible, you may want to try the firmware update on another system
Should you have any questions or problems please let us know.
Hope this helps cause it worked for me. So so so happy I didn't have to send it back.
Thanks draterrojam. Your solution worked for me as well, the bootloader zip allowed the computer to recognize the mouse, at which point the manual firmware update worked, and I'm back and running again. +rep to you!
it seems the drop box for the drivers is not working anymore. I feel as though I was more of a "beta" tester for the solution. They even asked if they could call me later if they need to clarify anything on the fix; which I said was completely fine. I feel they might have taken the download down because A. they have a more "consumer friendly" fix. B. They don't like anyone helping but their own tech support (which i doubt) or most likely cause the download was for two drivers and they just wanted it to be for one.
If you're still having problems send me a PM and I can get you the driver that worked for me as I still have it on my computer for future possible problems
Seems that Razer has updated there Firmware link again. *Find it below* Also for toughs who need it I have uploaded the leaked driver files to my drop box for download.
Just a note from what I have seen, The people who are getting update failed is because Windows inst detecting the firmware update mode of the mouse. So in that case Make sure you navigate your device manager and install the appropriate driver from above. Then run the update again.
Let me know any other info you guys need help with and I will see what I can do to assist. Have been using their products for years.
Damn I got myself this crap today and I also have this problem...
Could anyone fix the Bootloader links?
I tryed to uninstall bootloader, and that dident work either so I need to manually download that aswell. None of the links here worked
EDIT:
Thx guys! Finally worked.
But damn, when you lift the mice the cursor moves alot... Like the imperator
Wow what a royal pain in the ass... I was trying all sorts of combinations of buttons/ports/restarts/hacking at the registry to get this pos working for a friend. He had tried to update and the updater froze, requiring a restart, and nothing I found online worked until RabbitAOD's repost of the bootloader drivers. Razer has some interesting products but I've always heard about reliability issues... This PITA has convinced me to never buy a Razer product myself. At what point did someone think it was a good idea to have firmware on the mouse combined with a slow and buggy updater...
Hey guys, I had to go register an account just so I could express my appreciation to draterrojam and RabbitAOD for posting their solutions to this problem. Saved me hours of headaches.
I cant download the Bootloader file, it says error 404. that the file isnt there or something.. Do u have any other place to download the bootloader ?
I have a slight problem with this, downloaded the bootloader driver, installed it successfully. It was detected as razer bootloader in the device manager. But the firmware updater can't seem to detect the mouse. I'm running out of options.
I had to update the mouse with a RED firmware also.
I have been promised a green firmware in the future.
Does anyone managed to get his hands on a green firmware ?
Hey I have had a similar issue. My mouse was working yesterday and then today it started going from left to the right side of the screen. It could go up and down.
So I re-installed the software and it would not detect the mouse. Tried everything you suggested, which worked. Then it came up on my software to do another update... there must have been a new update since v3 of the firmware, as now I am back to the mouse not being detected. I updated the driver files on boot loader. But for some reason, even updating the firmware and all that it just does nothing anymore. At least the mouse lights up now.
I only bought this damned mouse yesterday too... the annoying thing is my boyfriend has the same mouse, except he has green and I have red, and he has had no issues since he bought his. I might think about having it replaced and uninstalling everything and trying it again. It could just be that this mouse was fautly to begin with.
best thing to do is return it and get a replacement immediately.
