I need some insights from you. I want to get a new AM3+ Mobo for around $150. I currently have the rig in my Sig, and I'm looking at reusing my Phenom II x4 925 and HD4670 up until the end of the year after which I will be looking at having a new FX CPU (6 or 8 cores / 95W or 125W) and maybe one of ATI's GDDR5 GPUs..(AMD / ATI setup)
Crossfire is not a priority, though it wouldn't hurt if there's a Mobo for this price that supports 2x..if it has onboard graphics even if its just a weak one, (as a backup in case I blow my GPU), then it will be a bonus..
I plan to overclock whichever FX CPU I will have, so VRMs are important..maybe 4x DIMM slots as well..
I believe some of you already have this kind of Mobo, so please do share your experiences!
I have an MSI 990FXA-GD80 V2 that I have been quite happy with. The BIOS is very easy to use, it also supports up to three (technically four) graphics card.

I have to agree with them. I'm testing MSI 990FXA-GD80 V2 and so far it is a great mobo to oc on.
So far I have test a Phenom II 1090T (4.0ghz/NB 3000) on it with 4x4GB DDR3 2000, MSI GTX480 lightning and OCZ 120GB SSD Sata III and it runs great. I will be test my FX-8320 on it next weekend.
I thought these guys only support AM3..and AM3+ Mobo supports AM3 chips, so IMO its better to go with an AM3+ Mobo..but still, I've always been a fan of Asus and these are the only ones that have onboard graphics! If in case I blow my GPU, there's always a fallback and I don't have to rush to a store to buy a new GPU..lol

FX Evo R2 looks like a nice Mobo, and I believe it's the cheapest of the bunch..
From what I've observed, most new Mobos do have UEFI Bios which is way cool with the new interface, but why do manufacturers don't include onboard VGA support anymore? Costs issues? Or is it the trend that most people have HDMI monitors?
If all you want is a backup new video cards start at $25 USD or so. Or you could go to the nearest flea market and get a used one for cheap. I have a 2007 nvidia 8800GTS sitting in a box as my backup. Used it earlier this year too.
Wow, tough choice! I got it narrowed down to the three:
MSI 990 FXA-GD80 V2
Gigabyte GA-88FX-UD3
Asus M5A99FX Pro r2.0
All three almost have the same features and the only difference I see are the prices of each, but even then those are negligible..I may be biased here, but something tells me I'll go with the Asus, then the Gigabyte as the second choice, since I don't have much experience / knowledge with MSI..
I would get the asus board. I have the m5a99x evo r2 (990x version) and it is very good. It is very heavy and feels solid. Dont be put off because it has a 6+2 phase vrm. The components used are of very good quality. This motherboard has the same vrm section (minus a few phases) as the sabertooth and crosshair motherboards. The whole idea that you need an 8+2 phase to overclock an 8 core is really not true and i can guarantee you will get the most out of your cpu with the asus board. With the motherboard i have i run my fx 6300 @ 4.6ghz 24/7 and have never had any bsod's or stability problems.

I plan to use as much of my old parts in the new Mobo up until I can raise my funds for the FX CPU and the ATI GPU, so that means I'll still be using my DeepCool IceEdge Mini II, which will give me clearance for the RAM Slots 1 and 3..thanks for the heads-up anyways!
If you are planning on going FX in the future scratch the UD3 from your list, unless you get a rev4 board. The current rev3 can not handle the 8XXX CPU and has trouble with the 6XXX cpu. At the least you will have a hot running system.
