My grandparents have an old P4 Celeron laptop with only 256mb of RAM. They'll be getting a new computer in about 6 months, but for now I'm trying to make their computer run a little smoother. Their main issue is the low amount of RAM, they run out of RAM very easily, and on a crappy 5400rpm hard drive virtual memory is making the computer crawl.
They mainly use the computer for internet so I'm wondering which browser uses the least amount of RAM. I can't find many statistics on RAM usage, but I'm inclined to guess that Firefox3 has the lowest usage. I know Chrome/Opera are supposedly slightly faster, but I know Chrome at least uses more memory than even IE7.
Oh, and just so we're clear, I've already gone through their startup programs and removed anything I could. Also defragged the hard-drive in an attempt to speed the computer up a little.
