Assuming that "card shut off" means that it's crashing back to desktop with a display driver error, it's a problem with the driver. Uninstall, boot in safe mode, use driver sweeper, and then reinstall latest drivers and CAP is applicable.
pull the video card and see if the IGP gives you the same issue. From the looks of it, it's a GPU problem.
Not true. with my 6850+6870 setup I'm pulling 63+ FPS on shoguns DX11 benchmark vs mid to low 30fps on a single card. It seems crossfire works quite fine even backwards and at 16/4. It's just not working forwards (6870+6850) at 16/4.
apparently you can crossfire a 6850 and a 6870 but not a 6870 and a 6850.
No and yes. Let me explain what's going on here. Just 6870 -36fps Just 6850 - 32fps 6870 (16X) + 6850(4x) - 27FPS (This should be more like 65 FPS) 6850 (16x) + 6870(4x) -61fps This was for shogun 2 in D11 but the problem is the same...
not when you already heave a 6870 and the 6850 they send you won't crossfire with it..
6850 is the replacement card they sent me for those keeping track.
I have a Diamond 6870 and a XFX 6850 (straight from referb). When I try to crossfire the cards with my 16/4 board things get stupid. with the 6870 in the 16x slot and crossfire enabled I'm getting worse performance than single card mode....
Everywhere I look, a 4890 eges out a 6790. Warrenty says equal or better. I'm hoping they mean price (paid $200+ for the 4890) but i'm sure they mean performance. If so a 5790 is slightly less or equal. Unacceptable.
One of the legs on the heat sink that attaches to the backplate broke clean in half on my 4890. No idea how that happened, but there you go. Anyway, does anyone know how likely it is that they will send me a replacement card that's newer...
