I bought 2 kits of 4gb x 2 (16gb) of Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1600 for $40 total in October.

Maybe $500 if you're patient. I sold my i7 R3 for $700 about 8 months ago.

The Dell would stomp the Acer and the Lenovo. The Sager would be equivalent, but Dell's warranty support is better. I'd go for the Inspiron, but wait for a good coupon or buy a refurb from the Dell Outlet.

That's a nice looking board. I'm interested to see overclocking performance.

It's dual channel. i.e. The board treats each pair of 4gb sticks as a single 8gb stick. That is completely normal.
