Yes, very good CPU and you can unlock the 4th core I think.
Noctua NH-D14 (if you have enough room for it) or Scythe Mugen 2. Those two are really good coolers and will reach 4.0GHz with low temps. There's a list somewhere on the site with all the best air coolers. EDIT: There it is...
You can't say AMD have bad CPUs; they are great but not as good as Intel's high end CPUs.. Both companies have their pros & cons..
If you have the money for a i7 go for it, however the AMD platform is cheaper (cheaper board, dual channel memory).. A 1055T would be perfect for all the tasks you mentioned above.
Turned out the vcore wasn't high enough.. Stable @ 1.4V now after 12 hours of prime95 (blend)
