How long have you had the Power Supply? Sounds like a possible blown Capacitor. do you have any other parts laying around or know someone who has a computer around to test it with? Alternatively, if there are small pc shops in your area,...
pretty sure its either something to do with my install of BF3 or my OS specifically. Tried 13.1 whql and 12.11 beta (which i know worked before) and am still getting the same result....
Still no change after a driver wipe and disabling ULPS. pretty sure im going to have to just run BF3 with xfire disabled and try an OS reinstall later...
Crysis 3 is still working properly and GPU-z render test confirms PCIE 3.0 on both cards.
I'm fairly certain the cards are correctly seated. Crysis 3 worked fine in Crossfire when i last played it, and since my primary card can't OC past 1175mhz on air i currently do not have ulps disabled. i will try running crysis 3 again...

I can certainly tell you that ASIC has very little to do with how well a card will clock. My primary 7970 is a 1050mv (80%) card and it runs VERY hot. My second 7970 is a 1123mv and generally runs about 10c+ cooler than the primary card.
