Hmm, maybe they shouldnt make too much conclusions with just one sample? I had a bunch of P14 but the few A14/15 i had, i liked much better acustically. Same with the Phanteks' fans....
The only ones i like better would be the Silent...
Noctua U14s is clearly the best package, the Performance is on par with the best, the build quality, mounting and Service is Top notch and the Fan is way better than the Silverstone/Zalman ones.
The second choice would be the Archon SBE...

afaik 1155/1156=1150 as far as cooler compatibility goes.
Regarding the original question: the ven x is arguably the very best 120mm fan based air cooler. Put two GTAP15 on it and it will cool as well as any high end heatsink out there.
Silverstone recently sent me one earlier this week, it's definately a decent cooler. Unfortunately it's a tad bit expensive in the EU at ~50€. Their pricing in the US makes them much more attractive though.
