Why buy an older processor... The 3570k will at least equal the 2500k in raw performance, plus it supports lucid mvp, better RAM speeds, uses less power and has pci-e 3.0... whats not to like?
This is a really simple question, on Z77? Get a 3570K, on Z68? Get a 2500k.

You will get a decent drop in temperature.... e.g. pulling 500w at 70% efficiency. Outputes 350w and 150w heat. at 90% outputs 450w and only 50w heat. EDIT: not temperature, heat produced/electricity wasted.
