Have to say my Gigabyte 990fxa-ud5 is running well with my 8350.

I believe the hyper 212 comes with a Blademaster. Very good fan. You won't get much better other than to install a second blademaster in push/pull. Only thing that will push more air would be the monster delta's.

Ubuntu usually does not have a root password until you set one. While logged into ubuntu open a terminal and type "sudo passwd" without the quotes. It should prompt you to set a password for root.
